Webtoon creator Heidi Eirin Jensen – known online as Huxleia – has been working on her blue elf heroine, Cerulean, for many years. Now she has attracted the interest of the TNT publishing imprint.
Hailing from Tromsø, Heidi is studying digital art and animation at Hamar college. When Serienett met her at her booth during the Oslo Comics Expo festival (OCX), it wasn’t just her first time hosting a stand and selling comics and prints there; it was her first time attending OCX at all.
«The artist name Huxleia comes from an alias I use online – A Minecraft username I created a long time ago,» she explains. «When I began posting my drawings online, that was the name I went with.»
For OCX 2026, she had fanzines printed to promote her web comic, «Lunhart». Unfortunately, they were stolen from her booth overnight leading into Saturday. In any case, they were nowhere to be found on OCX’s second market day, Saturday, June 23rd. The mystery remains unsolved.
The protagonist is named Cerulean. While she is an adult in the main series, the fanzine story, which is also online, focuses on her childhood:
«This prologue shows how Cerulean acquired her powers, which is a crucial part of the story. We are in a world where magic used to be a big deal but not anymore. Possessing magical powers is considered quite impressive. How did she get them? What do they entail?»
A turning point of sorts occurs when Cerulean meets her uncle:
«He becomes a significant character because, through him, we learn about her mother’s secret. Cerulean never knew she had an uncle. She knows nothing about her mother’s family; her mother kept it hidden from her.»
Incidentally, she has two mothers: one she takes after, and another who resembles her uncle.
But futures stories will focus on the adult Cerulean:
«I’ve been working on that story, and I’ve written a script for a full book, which I’m currently developing. A good portion has been fully outlined, but I plan to revise some of it before I start submitting it to publishers.»
Meanwhile, Heidi has a significant social media presence. So far, she has mostly been posting illustrations, drawings, fan art, and the like, but you can read excerpts and pages from Lunhart on Webtoon and Instagram:
«I only posted it on Instagram because my partner’s mother really wanted to read my comic. But she didn’t have Webtoon. So, I set up an Instagram account so she could read it.»
Then she was approached by the fairly new, but highly influential Norwegian publisher TNT:
«They asked me if I had submitted my comic to them. I was just like, ‘Nooo…’ Why not? Well, because I don’t dare. I’m a bit of a pessimist. A bit afraid to send my comic to people. If I submit it, I feel like it’s set in stone, in a way. I just want it to be really good before I do that. I assume they found me on social media, since I’ve entered quite a few competitions and I draw in the TNT style. But I want to prioritize my studies over the coming years, while working on Lunhart on the side now and then»
Where does she get her inspiration?
«I’ve drawn inspiration from all sorts of things—series, movies, and everything else I like—and just combined it all into one big thing. I was a huge fan of Steven Universe, where all the characters have different skin colors. My main character was originally a ‘Gem’ (the alien race in Steven Universe) who was blue. Later, I turned her into a blue elf, because I really love elves. And I’m really into sci-fi and all that kind of stuff. That’s how Lunhart became a futuristic world featuring elves.»
She has been working on the series since 2019, and even submitted it to Egmont’s comic book competition in 2021 under the title «Cerulean.» However, the story has changed significantly since then.
Heidi also spent two years studying cartooning at Bjerkely Folk High School:
«That’s where I learned that you have to print your comics and sell it, and all that stuff. You have to go to conventions. If I hadn’t attended folk high school, I probably wouldn’t be standing here today. But I created Lunhart even before I attended Bjerkely. My teacher asked, ‘Why are you coming here? You’ve got your comic ready to put into production and sales!
